April 2016 :
The “Investigative Practice” module at Independent Dance lasted five weeks and sprung from the work Table of Contents by Siobhan Davies Dance.
It was based on the “archive” theme, which was obviously resonating a lot with the work on the “Fond de l’Aire” of Wilfride Piollet and Jean Guizerix.
Some questions which really triggered my thinking :
-
- The importance and specificity of archives in the dance field
-
- How to archive dance?
- Choreography as archive
- Body as archive
- Wifride Piollet & Jean Guizerix Archives – The Aire Collection
- Ballet background, pointes shoes and White Ladies
- How to archive dance?

February 2016 :
I have spent three weeks in Paris, where several activities where taking place at the Poissy’s Studio l’Aire.
- I organised the second public event called “Fond de l’Aire” about the archives of Wilfride Piollet and Jean Guizerix. This edition was focused on a program performed at the Espace Cardin in Paris in April 1979, which was presenting their own choreographic works (solos and duets).
On this occasion, Jean Guizerix talked about the devising of these pieces alongside photographs, footages, cutting files, sketchbooks excerpts and programmes notes which were especially exhibited.
- I also had the pleasure to learn Yvonne Rainer’s Trio A from Jean Guizerix, as well as taking part into another workshop on the Flexible Barres.
- A new creation in duet with Captain Simard is on its way for November 2016 in Poissy…
January 2015 :

- Wilfride Piollet, the White Lady from Poissy, has gone on January 20, 2015 around 5pm.
The « New Moon » which has marked her farewell from the Paris Opera in 1983, was there for her last bow on the World’s stage.
Let us carry on working, industrious little bees, on the large Flexible Barres undertakings, as the Hive Queen departs, leaving us her honey work.

- Very excited to present the research I am doing over 2014/2016 on the Flexible Barres technique devised by Wilfride Piollet. .
